A bit about the founder.

Leston has been involved in pastoral ministry for several years, serving in South Africa and the United Kingdom. He holds a Doctorate in Pastoral Studies and post-graduate qualifications in counselling and in psychotherapy. He is a a qualified and fully accredited psychotherapist, specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Leston now feels called to utilise what he has learned (and is still learning) to help people discover and develop a practical 'how-to' biblical discipleship model. This incorporates spiritual development, therapeutic tools and techniques, sound theological approaches to address the whole person, and helping people to discover their unique ministry calling and blueprint.

Leston is always happy to share about the intersection between therapy and theology, and how he believes it plays an integral role in God’s design for wholeness, wellbeing and spiritual development.

 Why Discipleship Foundation?

“It has been a great privilege to serve in my respective roles, and I am truly humbled at the privilege of serving others as we journey together towards health and healing. I have sensed a growing burden to see people being able to experience the kind of life that Jesus talks about - where the fruit of the Spirit is not merely a biblical aspiration but a living reality that is experienced in our everyday lives; where we learn through personal experience, the joy of God's unconditional love and the assurance of His peace, learning to model His kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and goodness as followers of Jesus.

Too often the church has exchanged relationship for ritual, presence for programmes, often ignoring or downplaying the reality and the impact of mental health challenges in the process, which has meant that no meaningful tools and techniques have been applied to help us take the necessary steps to practically implement the kind of transformation that God promises us in Matthew 11:28-30, Romans 12:1-2, Psalm 23 and Isaiah 61:1-3.

My deep desire is to help as many people as possible to not only to be able to ask the 'how' questions, but to  find practical 'how to' answers, as we cultivate a deep, meaningful, enriching and life-changing relationship with God in which the concept of the new life He promises becomes a lived-out reality. That is what Discipleship Foundation is all about, and I'm really excited to take this journey with you.”
